On February 16th 2016, Suny Oneonta's Music Industry club and Rock to Cure got together to host an event in the Hunt Ballroom called "The Mic and Rock to Cure." This event was held in order to raise money for the Tyler DeMarco foundation. This is an organization to help with childhood cancer research and awareness.
At this event there was many performers, as well as students and faculty there to support this foundation. I got to speak with Suny Oneonta's Music Industry clubs vice president Patrick Brennan before the show. "Todays event we are working with Rock to Cure, in order to raise money for the Tyler DeMarco foundation, I'm excited for the performers and know they will put on a great show for a great cause."
Two other Oneonta students I talked to were Katie O'gara who is a member of "Pitch Slapped" and Michelle Vitale who is the president of "Rock to Cure" and also a member of "Pitch Slapped"
Katie states "Im very excited to be here, we are raising money for the Tyler DeMarco foundation, and this really hits home to me because my little brother had cancer, so its for a really good cause."
Michelle states "I am here because Music Industry asked us to be a part of this show because we are a philanthriopic organization, that raises money for cancer charity through various music events and its a really great organization."
The performances were all amazing, and the Music Industry club/ Rock to Cure raised a lot of money for a good cause.
