ONEONTA COMES OUT OF BATTLE OF THE RED DRAGONS ON TOP

BY NICK WETZEL—ONEONTA, NY

Cara Adams and Lyteshia Price led the way in SUNY Oneonta women’s basketball team’s win over rival SUNY Cortland in Tuesday night’s Battle of the Red Dragons, with the final score of 63-55. Cara had 18 points and Lyteshia led the way for Oneonta with 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, four blocks and three steals. It was a close game throughout with 11 lead changes, but Oneonta was able to pull away late thanks to a 13-4 run over the final eight minutes that included several clutch free throws. Whenever these two teams get together its always a close battle and this game didn't disappoint either. The energy and importance of the game couldn't have been more clear with the intensity put forth by both teams. It led to an exciting affair that made the crowd really get in on the action. The win pushed Oneonta's record to 15-6(11-3 SUNYAC) and dropped Corland to 13-8(8-6 SUNYAC). The win came ten days after Cortland defeated Oneonta in Cortland.

One fan stated "It was a good game, hard fought." While another added "...It was a close game but Oneonta wins in the end."

Cortland was able to come back and make it a game in the second half, but Oneonta always had an answer and was able to pull away late giving the home crowd something to cheer about.
I was able to catch up with Oneonta's starting point guard, Sam Lisikatos, who had this to say, " I think we did very well, I think we executed and stuck to our gameplan. " Also adding, "...Cortland is a rival so every time is a battle no matter what it is..."
