Music Square

By Aaron Kriever

Since opening in Oneonta in August of 2007, Music Square has been a hot spot for musicians in the Oneonta area. The store, while small in size, boasts a large number of guitars, basses, and drum equipment. Music Square also sells amplifiers, effects pedals, strings, and even accessories for brass and woodwind instruments.

Music Square is located in the Clinton Plaza off of Main St.
In addition to the products they sell, Music Square also repairs or upgrades instruments brought in by patrons. They'll restring and intonate guitars and basses, as well as install new pickups.

It's common for college students to frequent Music Square to buy accessories or get their instruments repaired. Brad Davis, a bass player, said, "I haven't personally had anything repaired, but I would trust them more than any Guitar Center."

"My instruments were gifts that came from Music Square, and I was very satisfied with all of them. Plus their selection is great."

Music Square is also known for giving student discounts in the past. Currently the store seems to be under new management, and it is unclear if Music Square still gives the same deals to students as they used to. Whether or not they do, it's a store that is worth checking out. You may find it to be more friendly than the Guitar Center you're far too used to.

Who wouldn't want to groove on this drum kit?
