Debra Sperano: Associate Registrar
Former
Oneonta Graduate Debra Sperano started working as a Residence Director in the
dorms at SUNY Oneonta in 1996. She did
not expect to have this job as her major was in education and got her masters
from Oneonta. She was offered the
position as a way to pay off her loans, so she thought it would be a great
place to start. After seeing how much
she liked working with the students, she decided to stay and was hired as the
Associate Registrar and has now been working at Netzer for 20 years.
Her day to day responsibilities include
working with both students and faculty. She
mostly works with students in the registrar’s office when they have any paper
work to hand in or want to add or drop classes.
Her busiest time of each semester and is when students must start
registering for classes. As associate
registrar she has to make sure that all professors give in their course
schedules that way students are able to register for the classes they need. Sperano helps many of the students with what
classes to register for and if there is any trouble registering for students,
Sperano is always the first call to help get the problem solved.
Not only does she help with registering,
she also works with students who are getting ready to graduate. She makes sure all students have their
diploma applications in and have enough credits to graduate.
Debra Sperano loves the interaction and
helping every student at Oneonta. She
hopes to continue helping for many more years.
