Hillside Commons Water

(Oneonta - NY) Hillside Commons opened their doors for the first time in August 2014 and is the place that three hundred and thirty one students call home between SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College.

As time progressed, many residents began wondering why their tap water has a bit of metal taste.

This raised a bit of concern since residents use this water for many different reasons throughout their days.

Either lower pH levels, or an excess of trace minerals in your water supply likely causes that taste, possibly due to rusty city or residential pipes.

Many residents have decided that purchasing bottled water or a Brita was the best way to go while living here but shouldn’t have to be the only solution to this issue.

Hillside Commons Resident, Ryan Adsit went on to say, “The water at Hillside is very unique, very unique. I’ve tried it, I am not a huge fan of it, however many people are. I prefer bottled water.”

His roommate Patrick Flood was concerned with the water when he started noticing pink and brown spots in his shower.

Flood says, “I mean as you can see right here in my shower we have brown spots and pink spots here and I cleaned this about a week ago, and uh as you can see it builds up pretty quickly.  So I’m not sure, I am no water expert, but this doesn’t seem safe to me.”

Hillside Commons offers a ton of great features for their residents. However, the water quality and water pressure is something that can be worked on. Management hopes to find a solution to the problem to ensure their residents are happy with where they are living every day. Hillside Commons has been extremely accommodating throughout this time and residents are happy with their experience as a result.
