By Christina Trupia (ONEONTA, NY) - Weigel’s Auto Parts has been serving the Oneonta community for almost 28 years. From car parts, to windshield wipers, to tractor supplies, this local auto shop will certainly have what you are looking for. Shop owner Michael Weigel was always interested in cars, which initially sparked his opening of the shop.

“We started in 1990, and we went out and just decided to see what we could do,” said Weigel. “I just started out working in the parts business because I enjoyed working on cars, and it’s just kind of evolved from there.”

The auto parts store supplies many locally manufactured products, with items such as custom spray paints made on the premises. Shop employee and daughter of the owner Catherine Weigel compared their stores products to that of other stores in the area, making note that the local and community aspect of the store means that much more to the consumer.
“When you’re working in a business that has local people, you meet local people and you learn a lot about them,” said Catherine. “Some places just hire someone to work behind the counter, whereas the people here know each other and have been in the business for a long time.”
